Heal
by Enya Huang
This set of poems contends with one’s own struggles in a world that makes it difficult to be – or admit to being – human. More specifically, I sought to grapple with how it feels to be misunderstood or silenced as well as what it means to move on, if such a process is even possible. While human rights issues are often understood as objectively harmful circumstances imposing external pressures on people and communities, I wanted to explore subjective implications in emotional scars, processing trauma, and healing.
